Terms, Conditions & Essential Info
Harewell Cottage & Feet in the Clouds Guided Walking Weekend
Overall booking details
Bookings are made for the Harewell Cottage/Feet in the Clouds Walking Weekend either by email or telephone, and the fee for both accommodation and walking will be paid as one sum to Harewell Cottage. Please contact Emma by email at [email protected] or by completing the ‘contact us’ box on the website; or by telephone on 07757 789251. Once it has been confirmed that the dates you would like to book and your walking guide are available, a nonrefundable deposit of £150 is to be paid. This can be done via cheque (made payable to Mrs E Stoney) or via BACS – the account details will be provided by email. If your booking is for a stay that is due to start within the next 6 weeks, the full cost of the holiday is payable at this time. We will also email a booking form which should be completed and returned at the time of paying the deposit. Only the persons named on the booking form may occupy the property. If you wish to make any changes to the dates that you have booked, please email and we will try to accommodate this. If you need to cancel the holiday or the walking dates, this must be notified via email. Cancellations made more than 4 weeks prior to the start date will be refunded 50% of the balance paid. Where the entire holiday is cancelled, 50% of the overall cost will be refunded; where only the walking day/s are cancelled, 50% of the relevant amount will be refunded. Holidays or walking day/s cancelled less than 4 weeks prior to the start date will not be refunded. We strongly recommend taking out holiday insurance that includes cancellation cover. The balance will be due 6 weeks prior to the start date of your holiday at Harewell. We will email a reminder the week before payment should be made. If payment is not made at this time it will constitute cancellation of your holiday and walking day/s and forfeiture of your deposit. If for any reason we have to alter the dates of your holiday and walking day/s, and the new dates we offer are not convenient to you, we will cancel the booking and return all monies paid to you.

Car parking
Harewell Cottage does not have its own allocated car parking space. Parking for the cottage is by the village green adjacent to the property. You may park on the upper or lower sides of the green. Please note, the road on the lower side of the green is used by farm traffic so please park at the widest point of the road and fold in wing mirrors!
Dogs
There is no additional charge for bringing up to two well behaved dogs to Harewell. This must however be by prior arrangement. We would ask that you keep dogs on the lower ground and ground floor only and off the furniture. They must never be left unsupervised in the cottage.
Occupancy
Harewell Cottage sleeps 2 adults in one double bedroom. The cost of hire includes up to two adults and 2 dogs. By prior arrangement only, up to two additional persons may use the sofa bed in the lower ground floor den. This will be at a cost of £10 per person per night. We would however stress that the cottage is tailored for a luxury holiday for two people. A travel cot can be made available by prior arrangement. All names of people staying at Harewell Cottage during your holiday must be stated on the booking form.

Further information
We hope you will love the cottage as much as we do and will enjoy a special holiday in Glasshouses. During your stay you will be responsible for the cottage and its contents, so please treat them with due care and respect. In some instances if these instructions have not been adhered to, we may have to make a cleaning charge. In order that we can quickly repair or replace any items for our next guests, please ensure that you inform us of any breakages or damage that occur whilst you are at the cottage. If these items are damaged through your negligence, we will advise you of any charges that we will need to make to you. Equally, if your pet causes any damage please advise us of this so that we can put things right. You will be charged accordingly. The cottage is strictly non-smoking. The village of Glasshouses is quiet. Please respect our neighbours by keeping noise to a minimum after 9pm. We have the right to terminate a booking at any time on the grounds of abuse to ourselves or residents of the village, mistreatment of the property or criminal activity within the property. In such circumstances, we are not obliged to provide or locate alternative accommodation and no refund of any monies paid will be made. We strongly recommend taking out holiday insurance to cover you against cancellation, personal accidents and illness. It is also advisable to check that your insurance will cover expensive bikes and equipment that you may bring to the cottage, which are not covered by our insurance.
Force majeure
We will not be liable for any delays, loss, damage or expenses incurred if the booking needs to be altered or cancelled, or if we are unable to perform our contractual obligations, as a result of events beyond our reasonable control. These include but shall not be limited to events such as war, civil strife, terrorist activity, natural or manmade disaster, fire, flood and adverse weather conditions.
Liability
We, the owners, will have no liability for any death or injury occurring during your holiday unless it is as a result of our negligence. Please safeguard and insure personal property. No liability is accepted by us for loss or damage of personal property.
Feet in the Clouds Guided Walking
Feet in the Clouds will do our best to make sure you have a great day out, but there are a few things we’d like to ask in return to make sure everything runs smoothly, and most importantly safely.
Please ensure you’ve read and understood the following before booking:
Equipment
The weather and temperature can change very quickly during the day, especially on the moors and fells. In the hills, temperatures and conditions can be very different to those in the valley bottoms – it’s not uncommon to get 3 or 4 seasons in one day!
Please ensure you have:
- Waterproof jacket and trousers
- Fleece or other spare warm layer
- Base layer (eg. synthetic long sleeved top or t-shirt next to skin – not cotton)
- Sturdy, supportive walking boots (worn in before the walk!)
- Hat and gloves
- Sunhat, sun cream & sunglasses
- Water: 1 litre min, or 2 litres for long walks and hot days
- Packed lunch & snacks
- Personal first aid kit (personal medications/painkillers, blister plasters etc. – please note we can’t give out any medications)
- Headtorch on challenge walks
Safety issues
Terrain covered may include boggy, uneven or steep ground, all of which can require even more care when wet. Individual walk descriptions will highlight anything you need to be aware of but if you are concerned about anything, please do give us a shout.
However, please be aware that any outdoor activity will hold unavoidable risks and that Feet in the Clouds will not be liable for any accident, loss or injury unless it is the result of negligence on our part.
Amendments and cancellations
Your guide will retain the discretion to amend or cancel a walk for reasons of safety, enjoyment or ability. If weather conditions prevent a walk from going ahead, an alternative will be offered wherever possible, eg. a low level valley walk may be offered instead of a high fell walk if gales are forecast, and in this case no refund will be available.
If a walk is cut short after it has commenced, eg. due to deteriorating weather or injury, the event is considered to have taken place and we regret no refund will be available. The decision to end a walk lies with the leader.
Please see above for further information regarding deposits and cancellations.
Medical declarations
Please provide any medical information and requirements on the booking form. These are not intended to exclude anybody but they do help us to help you, for example tailoring eating times if you are diabetic, or being aware of emergency medications you carry eg. inhalers for asthma attacks. Information given is of course confidential.
Views
Needless to say, while the views are usually as spectacular as we’ve described, they are nonetheless subject to good weather conditions! But don’t worry – even if the cloud’s down, there’s often plenty to see en route and it all adds to the sense of adventure!
What the price includes
- Guided walking for two adults - as this offer is a greatly reduced price aimed at couples only, additional walkers are welcome but there may be a small price adjustment.
- A qualified leader to handle all the route planning, navigating and other crucial stuff.
- Local knowledge and a greater insight into an area and its community than the guidebooks might provide
- Privately organised transport on linear walks (this will be stated in walk description)
What the price doesn’t include
- Transport to and from the starting point, car park fees where applicable
- Public transport on linear routes (see walk description for information) or in case of participant pull-out
- Refreshments
Age requirements
Children under 18 are welcome on Feet in the Clouds walks, but they must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18, and we’ll trust your judgement regarding their ability to complete the walk. Please refer to individual walk descriptions for specific information on walk difficulties, or contact us if you have any questions. Participants on the Yorkshire Three Peaks and other challenge walks must be over 18.
Dogs
Dogs are welcome on most of our walks on short leads, but please check with us as some of our days cross restricted areas including sensitive ground nesting bird habitats. Please be aware nearly all our walks will bring us into contact with cows and calves.
Environmental and Social Responsibilities
This is a fragile landscape and much work is being undertaken to maintain and restore it for the environment’s – and our – benefit. Participants will be expected to respect the landscape and its farmers, and do their part to keep it beautiful!
Data Protection
Your personal details and information will never be shared with anybody else, nor will they be used by us for any reason other than those for which you have provided them.
